Urban flooding problem in Osaka City - Japan

Suminoe-ku – Ebara vertical mixed flow pumps were used for draining water.

The Challenge

During periods of heavy rain, water would concentrate in low-lying land, even in areas that had established sewerage systems, causing damaging floods. 

The Solution

Suminoe Pump Station was built 30m underground to drain water collected from the floodway (length 12.2 km) into a river.

Cool air for a pedestrian bridge in Saudi Arabia

Mina, Saudi Arabia – Jamaraat pedestrian bridge.

The Challenge

The Jamaraat pedestrian bridge in Mina needed to be reconstructed from a single tier to a new multilevel bridge. A plan for air flow would be needed.

The Solution

In order to provide fresh cool air, the design of desert coolers was approved. Submersible pumps were used to circulate the water inside the coolers.
